Anyone with an iPhone knows that they always had to ‘take it’ with Safari as their default browser. Although you could have more browsers of your choice installed, it was for Safari that you were redirected whenever you clicked on a link.
With the arrival of iOS 14, it is finally possible to change your default browser. But you must bear in mind that you have to have the latest version of this installed, and only a few are compatible.
Browsers that can be pre-defined on iOS 14:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Mozilla Firefox
How to change the default browser on iOS 14:
- Open ‘Settings’ on your iPhone
- Swipe to the desired browser
- Click on “Default browser” and choose the desired one
From here, you can start using your preferred browser as a default. But for now, only the four mentioned above have been updated so that this option is possible.
After activating the feature, the default browser was Safari again after restarting my iPhone. This means that it is a feature that is not yet fully polished, and may not work optimally on some equipment.
