iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have 5G. But there is a limitation

If you intend to buy one of the new iPhone 12, having support for 5G networks will be a reality as soon as it becomes available in our country. However, it is now known that there is a limitation that Apple will have to correct.

As discovered by the MacRumors website, 5G is not available on iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro if the user is using dual SIM mode. This discovery was made through internal Apple documents shared on Reddit.

IPhone 12 5G does not work in Dual SIM mode

“When using the two lines in Dual SIM mode, 5G data is not supported and will fall to 4G LTE. If customers were using only eSIM and are on an operator and tariff that is supported, they will have access to 5G ”, the documents read.

According to the same source, Apple intends to make support for 5G in dual SIM mode available through a software update later this year. So it is not something that UK's consumers have to worry about right now.

Remember that Apple users have access to Dual SIM since the iPhone XS, launched in 2018. These may have a virtual card (eSIM) and a physical card.

By this time it is already possible to buy an iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, which start to reach the first buyers later this week. From November 6, it will also be possible to order iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, which will only be available on November 13.
