Two of the largest social networks in the world are Facebook and Instagram. There is a strong possibility that your friends will have an account on both, but for cases where it doesn’t, today’s news will be gold on blue.
Instagram started to receive an update that allows it to combine its messaging functionality with Messenger. The main advantage of this measure is that you can also communicate with your Facebook contacts without having to change applications.
Instagram DM now move to Messenger
Mark Zuckerberg’s intention to unify his messaging platforms is not new. The goal is to join Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp so that you can use just one app to stay in touch with friends and family.
The first step towards this goal is to unify Messenger with Instragram. The update will appear when you open the application from the last social network, but before installing it, it informs you of the inherent advantages.
First, the company says that your chats will be more colorful. You can also react to messages with emojis, respond with a swipe and the one that most arouses interest is the possibility of speaking with contacts only present on Facebook.
Once installed, the DM’s icon at the top of the Instagram app will be replaced by the Messenger counterpart. However, the possibility of contacting Facebook users does not yet seem to be available.
App unification does not mean that some will disappear
It has been made very clear that it is not the goal of Facebook to eliminate some of its popular applications. Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp will continue to exist as independent applications, however, they will share infrastructure.
For the user, this means that you will not need to have all three applications to be able to communicate with your friends spread across the three services. The company also wants to add end-to-end encryption, so that your messages are always private.
