LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender in video
A very fun hobby
To give you an idea of the challenge ahead, this LEGO set consists of nothing less than 2573 pieces, and to complete it we will need the help of a 500 page manual. The result will be a miniature recreation of the famous model of Land rover with a size of 42 centimeters long and 20 wide. Yes, it is going to be big, and it will have such incredible details as a 4 speed sequential gearbox.
The design is so complex that the set is divided into several parts, so that we will have to complete each of these bags to be able to see some sense of the construction as we progress. There will be 4 parts in which the set is divided, some quite compensated chapters that have taken me an average of two and a half hours per chapter. So now you know, if you decide to start, it would be better to reserve two hours to complete a part, since it is not highly recommended to leave it halfway due to the danger of losing small loose parts. If you open a bag of parts, it is best that you finish the steps until you use each of them.
This set includes so much detail that it’s even good for learning basic mechanics. The position of the axles, the operation of the crankshaft, the gearbox … a long list of details and technical terms that I never imagined could be represented so well with the help of some LEGO pieces. As you can see, the set is very special, and that is more or less what the Technic range of the brand tries to offer. Complex sets with a foundation in the background that an adult audience seeks. And it is that this LEGO is designed for an audience from 11 years old, an age that in some cases may need the help of an adult.
More than complicated, it is entertaining. The assembly manual perfectly explains the parts needed to complete each step, and provides details such as colors or full-scale representations of some parts to avoid confusion. In my case, it took me to assemble the set in a total of 12 and a half hours, however, I have not done it alone, since a person has accompanied me at all times, supplying the pieces that had to be assembled at that moment or assembling another separate block to advance, so the total assembly time could easily reach 15 hours.
Is a Technic set like this worth it?
This LEGO set has made me discover how much fun these kits can be, so the experience has been completely satisfactory in my case. The final results are spectacular, and as you can see, the car does not lack any details.
- Folding tailgate thanks to a hidden latch mechanism in the spare wheel
- Damping on all four wheels
- Stickers to highlight items such as model name
- Detail of the rear lights
- Valves that move with movement
- Winch included to get out of a pinch
In summary, we are facing a set that will delight car lovers and puzzles and puzzle fans, as this set is a challenge in each of its sections. If, on the other hand, you are a staunch fan of LEGO, it takes time to have a Land Rover like this.
