Huawei has officially unveiled its replacement for Android by the name of HarmonyOS. The new system is not only adapted to smartphones but other gadgets that the company may launch. Examples are the latest and first Honor SmartTVs that already offer this operating system as their flagship.
After Huawei was again barred by the US to do business with US companies, HarmonyOS seems to be increasingly important.
Richard Yu, executive responsible for Huawei Mobile, said that moving from Android smartphones to this new HarmonyOS is a matter of days. He also explained why they named the new system HarmonyOS.
HarmonyOS reason explained by executive
According to its statement, HarmonyOS is a non literal translation of HongmengOS. Apparently Hongmeng means something like "open the earth".
Richard Yu said: "Hongmeng's meaning in Chinese is close to 'opening the earth'. The nearest English word is Genesis, which means "beginning / creation." It is very difficult to pronounce Hongmeng correctly in Chinese. So we named the Harmony system to bring more peace to the world."
Trade "Trade War" for "Peace to the World"
Huawei is in this situation because China and the United States do not understand each other. Donald Trump wants to raise rates on Chinese products, and Chinese will do exactly the same on American products. This, of course, if they do not reach an agreement that is advantageous for both of them.
Due to these problems, US President Donald Trump said he would bar US companies from doing business with Huawei. They talk about possible Chinese government espionage, but we all know that this is the letter Donald Trump has to hurt the Chinese government that is seriously helping to spread Huawei's name around the world.
In short, may this new HarmonyOS bring peace. At least to Huawei and its development.
