Apple, Samsung and Huawei lead, Xiaomi peeks for the first time
As such, CounterPoint has divided the high end smartphones into 3 segments. $ 400- $ 600 smartphones, $ 600- $ 800 handsets, and handsets over $ 800.
While not surprisingly, Apple sells the best in the $ 800 segment, we have some good surprises in the lower end of the range.
That is, it turns out that in the $ 400 to $ 600 segment that Samsung leads but that Huawei is right behind Apple with 17% market share. Incidentally, you can still see brands like Vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi growing in the segment.
Finally, for $ 600 to $ 800 smartphones we have Apple and Samsung with 82% market share. A segment where Huawei is trying hard to get in with its latest flagships.
In short, this does not tell us which is the best manufacturer on the market. That is, it confirms to us exactly what we believed we knew. We have Apple strong in selling tops, a Samsung able to compete and a Huawei that is slowly appearing in radar. Let's see if 2019 changes anything.
