Grand Theft Auto V: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version will be more expensive

During an interview with GamesIndustryBiz, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive made some statements about the price of next generation games. Strauss Zelnick says the games will be more expensive, as the technology justifies a price increase. Thus, the next NBA 2K21 should have a value of around 80 euros.

However, it will not only be the NBA 2K21 that will increase the price for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions. The Grand Theft Auto V, which will receive a next generation version, will certainly raise its price on the mentioned console versions.

Strauss Zelnick also commented that there has not been a price increase in games of great category in recent years. However, game technology has been developing and allowing for better and better experiences. In that sense, it is justifiable to charge more for the next generation games, according to the CEO.

Sony had already said the same

During a PlayStation 5 press event, Sony made statements similar to Strauss’s. In fact, the company even referred to Grand Theft Auto V as an example. “With all the technical, visual and performance improvements, GTA V and GTA Online will take full advantage of the potential of PlayStation 5”.

It is clear that this potential will come with a price. After all, with so much technology on the new consoles, why shouldn’t companies charge more for new games? However, it is important to note that this is only an improved version, probably without new content.

So, is it fair to charge 80 euros for the “remastered” version of a game for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X? Tell us in the comments.
