Google launched the Pixel 4a this summer. The equipment is in the mid-range segment, and has only one rear camera, against the market trend of multiple sensors.
And according to the tests carried out by DxOMark, this is a really winning bet. It should be noted that it matches, and often exceeds, the Pixel 4 launched in the previous year, with much higher prices.
As you can see, the Pixel 4a achieved an overall score of 111 points. And this low score in relation to other sharks on the market, is simply due to the fact that it does not have sensors seen in competitors, such as a wide angle or a telephoto.
As a comparison, the Pixel 4a achieved just three points less than the Pixel 4. It presents itself with one more point than the Mi 9 and iPhone 11, and very close to this year’s smartphones like the Asus ZenFone 7 Pro that we reviewed recently.
The equipment has the great advantages of exposure, autofocus, white balance and good colors on video. However, it has a limited dynamic range, low detail and deformations visible in many videos.
As always, you should look at the DxOMark tests as another barometer when buying your equipment. For the price, the Pixel 4a has a very good quality camera, although it is not the system where you will find more versatility. Within this price range, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite or OnePlus Nord may be better options if that’s what you want.
