Google Lens is a very useful tool for translating in real time something that we are capturing with our camera. But this much-loved feature has only worked so far with the use of the internet.
Offline translation arrived at Google Lens on Android
Since mid-2020, Google has been working to fix this. And now offline translation has started to reach Android users of Google Lens. Below, we show you how it works.
This feature will work similarly to downloading maps from Google Maps. As soon as you open the translation filter in Google Lens and select the language, you have the opportunity to download the available ones so that you can later use them offline.

As you can see in the images, Google alerts you of how much that language pack will weigh on your smartphone. And as soon as you return to this menu, the languages you downloaded are properly identified.
In the context of a pandemic, traveling is far from being a priority for most people. But as soon as everything can return to normal, this is a novelty that will be much appreciated.
As a general rule, when we travel (mainly abroad), mobile data tends to be limited or even non-existent. With the possibility of having the languages previously downloaded, it makes things a lot easier.
The feature requires the latest version of the Google app, and it started reaching many users this Monday. In our tests, the functionality was already active on the team’s Android devices. If you don’t have it available yet, it will be a matter of days before it reaches your device.
