Google is preparing to integrate Google Assistant on the Google Gboard keyboard. Who tells us is XDA Developers who managed to identify the code in the beta application.
It should be noted that the functionality is still being implemented. That is, they were able to find the code and activate the features that are disabled and hidden. However, everything indicates that it is the next feature to be added.
How the new Google Gboard will work
The idea is for a simple integration of Google Assistant. You will have a small microphone on the keyboard and you can dictate your message. After the message is written, you can simply say “send” and you are done. In addition, you will be able to “delete” the message or “close” the application.
The great advantage of this novelty is that it will not only reach the Google messaging application. That is, since the integration is in Google Gboard, the functionality will work in all messaging applications.
This is an impeccable feature for many people who do not have the patience to write messages (me), or for those who are driving and need (even) to respond to an SMS quickly.
Let’s just hope that Google Assistant can do this task with a typical “Ok Google”. I may be asking a lot, however, if we have an assistant integration in Gboard it is possible that you will say “send a message to X person on WhatsApp” and the assistant will be able to understand what you want and try to do it.
In the meantime, we have to wait and see. Google has been improving Google Gboard repeatedly. It is no coincidence that it is one of the most used keyboards in the world. Be it Android or iOS.
