In its most recent presentation event, Fufifilm announced two new cameras. The first, the Fujifilm GFX 100S is a medium format machine for professional use, standing out for its compact body and price of 7 thousand euros.
The compaction effort is notorious for being able to place the same sensor as the GFX 100 in a smaller body and, in addition, making the camera more accessible. It is a bet that follows the brand’s trend after the captivating X-S10.

It is even a cheap camera compared to the GFX 100, launched in 2019 with a price of around ten thousand euros. With this camera the Fujifilm GFX 100S shares the 43.8 x 32.9 mm sensor, so medium format with 100% AF coverage.
The new camera is 500 grams lighter than the previous model, but it loses some functions, such as the electronic viewfinder, which is no longer removable and becomes fixed. In addition, you no longer have the option to use a vertical handle with extra batteries.
The general features of the new Fujifilm GFX 100S are familiar, with physical controls and a new control screen at the top of the camera. Construction materials are premium, mainly using metal with plastic applications to improve the footprint.
Fujifilm also compacted the built-in stabilization system, the OIS mechanism, which should even be slightly superior in performance to the system present in the GFX 100 thanks to a new gyroscopic sensor. According to the brand, stabilization adds up to 6 steps to most G Mount bayonet lenses.
The body of the new camera is 30% more compact than the previous model, having all the controls that we can find in most DSLRs on the market. It also has virtual controls and a new 1.8-inch monochrome screen at the top.
The camera has a micro HDMI, USB-C port and two UHS-II SD card slots, plus two inputs jack 3.5 mm for microphone and headphones, as well as a remote shutter port (2.5 mm).
The Fujifilm GFX 100S hits the market in March for around 7,000 euros in Europe. There is also a new G Mount 80 mm f / 1.7 lens for the GFX system with a price close to 2500 euros.
Fujifilm X-E4 is the new compact photo camera for 850 €
The Japanese manufacturer also unveiled the new compact medium-high range camera. It’s called Fujifilm X-E4 and arrives in Europe for about 850 euros, with interchangeable (non-fixed) objectives from the ecosystem and bayonet X.
The dimensions of the camera are tiny, 121.3 mm x 72.9 mm x 32.7 mm, being thinner than its predecessor (X-E3) launched in 2017 by more than an inch. For those looking for a new machine with APS-C sensor (cropped) this is the new option.
The new Fujifilm X-E4 is aimed at enthusiastic photographers who prefer a camera more like the rangefinders of old, than the new mirroless like the X-T4. In practice, the Fujifilm X-E4 can be seen as a fixed lens version of the X100V.

The sensor present in the Fujifilm X-E4 is the 26.1 MP X-Trans, as in the X100V, the top of the range compact with fixed lens. Now, on the new E-4, we have a rotary knob for exposure compensation and another for shutter speed.
It also has a “Q” button for quick access to personalized settings, a user-defined menu for quick access, a rotary On / Off button on the ring surrounding the shutter button. The fist or grip has been completely removed from the compact chamber.
The X-E4 is capable of recording 4K video at 30 fps – 4: 2: 0 8-bit. Its capabilities are taken to the extreme with external recording, managing to record in the same 4K resolution at 30 fps, but in 4: 2: 2 10-bit via the HDMI port. It has slow motion recording at 1080p Full-HD up to 240 fps.
In addition to the new cameras, Fujifilm introduced a new pancake-style lens (in the images). The Fujinon XF (bayonet) R (ring for controlling the 27 mm aperture (focal length) 2.8 (maximum aperture), with a recommended price close to 400 euros.
The new compact camera is available in black and silver, reaching stores in March for around 850 euros (only the body), or in kit with lenses.
