Facebook starts in UK with competitor to Patreon

This is not the first time we have said that Facebook intends to create a competitor to Patreon. Patreon is a service that allows creators to give fans something extra. In exchange these fans help with a monthly amount.

If there's money involved Facebook is there! This is guaranteed. Today we have confirmation that the social network will start to do something similar to Patreon and will start in UK, Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Facebook starts in Portugal with competitor to Patreon

This new tool will give content creators more chance to succeed. As we all know Youtube or blogs do not pay as well as people think. Especially if the creators are starting out.

Facebook looks to Patreon as competitor with new measure

As such, creators make extra content or offer small rewards to fans who help them monetarily. Facebook will have something identical and thus formalize its direct attack on the Patreon platform.

Although Patreon has quality, increased commissions have left breeders with no other recourse. Hopefully, the value Facebook gets will be less.

You can read in the Facebook statement:

"Facebook is expand Fan Subscription test to four countries in Europe: United Kingdom, Spain, Germany and UK. Fan Subscriptions allow people to support the creators they admire with a small recurring monthly payment, in exchange for rewards as a exclusive content or a badge that demonstrates supporter status "

"Facebook is also making the Coll Brand Collabs Manager ’ available in countries in Europe, starting with the UK and Germany. Brands Collabs Manager allows advertisers or brands to find and collaborate with creators for Facebook sponsored content opportunities. "

With these new measures, Facebook wants creators to be able to interact more with their followers. They also want to make them look at the platform with other eyes. It can be read in the project objectives:

  • "Unleash creativity. Enable creators the ability to unleash their creativity with more interactive two-way video experiences in Watch;
  • Surrounding community. Providing creators with tools to create more participatory video experiences – continue the conversation beyond the video by further engaging your fandom;
  • Creation of companies. Dbuild creators for success, and provide support and incentives that help creators easily manage their brand and earn money by doing what they love best."

It has not been said how much Facebook will be worth in these donations to the creator, however, it is not expected to be a free service. But if it's smaller than Patreon, it's always welcome.
