Samsung and Google have decided to bring the Google assistant to some Samsung SmartTV’s launched in 2020. We can assume that even more smart TVs will come with this feature in the future.
Google has long been trying to convince Samsung to abandon Bixby in favor of Gogole Assistant for its smartphones. Well, it looks like the partnership started on SmartTV’s.
Samsung SmartTV’s that will receive Google Assistant
Unfortunately, not all Samsung SmartTVs will receive this update. According to the brand, televisions must be from 2020 and only the models of the following brands will receive the update:
- 2020 8K and 4K QLED TVs
- 2020 Crystal UHD TVs
- 2020 Frame and Serif TVs
- 2020 Sero and Terrace TVs
Google Assistant will arrive in an OTA (Over The Air) update and it will be available to add the feature in the settings shortly after installation. Therefore, you will use the remote’s microphone to speak to the Google assistant.
You will not have many limitations. This is because it will be basically the same as talking to Google Assistant from Google Home. You’ll be able to control smart gadgets you have at home, change channels or even ask for the weather. That is, it will be a fully functional Google Assistant.
We only hope that more manufacturers will offer us these possibilities. It would be perfect to have the possibility between Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Oh yes! Things got even more interesting for our smart home.
