The Disney + streaming service was launched only about two months ago and, although available in a limited number of countries, has achieved incredible success. Proof of this, despite the many problems present at this early stage, reached a total of 10 million users in the first day alone.
While the vast majority of original Disney movies are not in danger of disappearing from the platform, many users are disappointed to see extremely popular movies disappearing from Disney +. The fact that no warning was posted made the event even more frustrating for users.
Alone at home, Pirate of the Caribbean and Dr. Dolittle disappeared without warning!
At the time of the launch of the service, it was revealed that there was a possibility that some movies could be removed temporarily due to some old licensing agreements. It looks like this happened to some of the most iconic movies on the service.
During the Christmas season, it is a tradition present in almost any country, Christmas without seeing Alone at Home, is not Christmas. Much to the disappointment of many users, the first two films of Home Alone are no longer available during this time without any warning.
As reported by ScreenCrush, so far, at least 12 movies have been reported that have been removed from Disney +:
- Home Alone 1 and 2
- Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
- The sandlot
- Dr. Dolittle
- White wilderness
- Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties
- The Shaggy Dog (2006)
- Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers
- Strange magic
- The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration
It has not been revealed so far if there are more movies about to disappear from the service, or a forecast of when they might return. A Disney spokesman said only that once the licenses expired, the movies were available again.
However, even users who have downloaded these movies so that they can view them in “offline mode” will not have access to them.
