Disney’s new subscription service has managed to exceed all expectations, reaching more than 26.5 million subscribers during its first three months.
This incredible brand far surpassed the predictions of the company, which had estimated that Disney + would reach the end of 2019 with around 20 million subscribers.
Still far from successfully threatening Netflix’s dominance, there is less and less doubt that Disney + will be able to become one of its biggest rivals.
Estimates for 2024 may be reached later this year!
The growth in popularity of Disney + and its success has been so great that there is already evidence that it may exceed the estimates made for 2024.
Before making the service official, Disney estimated that they could reach 60 to 90 million subscribers by 2024, which now appears to be an extremely easy to reach number.
Recalling that the service is officially available in a limited number of markets, it can be said that they are “just heating up”. Despite the strong presence in the North American market, users in Europe are eager to be able to enjoy all the content available on Disney +.
So far, in Europe, the service has only been made available in the Netherlands. Still, many users have turned to VPNs in order to “get around” location blocks.
Disney remains a real moneymaker
Currently, the company has three active streaming services, Disney +, Hulu and ESPN +. Interestingly, although at a less impressive level, the other two services also showed very positive growth during 2019.
In addition to its streaming services, Disney continues to make many millions with the various titles it continues to launch in the cinema. Without a doubt, the two that stood out the most in 2019 turned out to be Frozen 2 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Together, these two films brought revenues of over $ 2.5 billion to the company. We cannot forget the great success of films like Lion King, Aladdin and Toy Story 4.
