Google recently added a much-requested feature to Pixel devices: scheduling Dark Mode. The function allows Dark Mode to automatically switch on at sunset. It is not possible to schedule specific hours but it is a start. However, this feature is having problems with some apps.
As some Reddit users have advanced, Dark Mode scheduling is not working with the Gboard app, Google’s keyboard. Additionally, the contact and phone apps are showing the same error as they do not switch to Dark Mode when they are supposed to.
As Reddit is a community made up of thousands of users, an unofficial solution was suggested, just for Gboard. It goes through enrollment in the Gboard Beta testing program. Registered users can manually schedule Dark Mode for the keyboard.
Google already recognized the mistakes and promises solution
It’s not all bad news. Through the official Google account on Reddit, the company announced that it is already aware of the problems. She responded by thanking users for their feedback and stating that they are already working on a fix, which will be released soon.
So, if you are one of the few people in UK who own a Google Pixel, rest assured. Google should send a simple software update that will correct this irritating problem. However, the question remains: scheduling control should be total and not just at sunset.
The Dark Mode implemented in the system was one of the most attractive novelties of Android 10. Apple also did, with the launch of iOS 13. However, iOS 13 has the schedule for sunset since the launch.
