BMW holds contract that will give it wings to face Tesla

Needless to say, Tesla is one of the most relevant manufacturers in the electric car segment. That is why it is so often compared to other manufacturers. BMW is one of the next brands that will dare face Tesla and the new deal proves it.

It's been almost 7 years since BMW introduced its last all-electric car, BMW i3, but with the new deal the German company has made sure it has reason to fight Tesla over the next 10 years.

BMW holds batteries for electric cars for 10 years

BMW i3

The new contract is made with two battery manufacturers and is worth € 10 billion. This contract holds batteries for electric cars for 10 years.

Interestingly, this contract only reflects in the construction of its batteries. Colbate and lithium will be collected by the brand itself in order to combat prices and increase exploitation in conflict zones. This way BMW ensures that quality control is increased. Something I would like to see other manufacturers doing.

Main advantages of an electric car

  • Environment thanks to less carbon emissions
  • Quieter driving
  • Good starting power in most cases

Potential Disadvantages of an Electric Car

  • Few upload locations
  • Loading delay
  • Poor autonomy (in most cases)
  • Silent driving can be a disadvantage
  • Battery change (may take 3 to 10 years)
  • Generally higher price

Electric cars are part of the near future

Whether you like it or not, electric cars are part of our future. This future is closer than we think. Honda, for example, has already said that it will abandon diesel to favor electric, and other manufacturers are increasingly betting on this type of fuel. Let's just hope that competition will increase considerably in order to lower car prices.
