Considered by many to be the best smartwatch ever created, Apple Watch continues to be featured in the international news after saving another user's life.
This is not the first time, and certainly not the last, that the impressive features of Apple's smartwatch saves a user's life. This time it was 28-year-old James Prudenciano who was saved thanks to the watch's fall detection feature.
Apple Watch Drop Detection Saves Another Life!
While hiking in a national park, Prudenciano and the girl he was on a date were lost. After dark, they decided to risk sliding down a slope, but eventually dropped about 30 meters until they fell into the water and rocks.
During the fall James's watch immediately contacted the emergency services (911) as well as all emergency contacts. James Prudenciano suffered three fractures in the back, as well as the foot and hand. He claims he thought he was going to die, and has no doubt that his Apple Watch is the only reason he's still alive.
This is not the first time that the smartwatch's fall detection feature has saved a life. Although many users consider this feature a gimmick and which is not as accurate as they wanted, the truth is that when serious accidents happen, their utility comes to the fore.
On Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5, this feature is automatically enabled for users 65 and older. However, it is recommended that all users keep it active as you never know what might happen.
In addition to this feature, Apple Watch also has a sensor for heart rate monitoring (as well as electrocardiogram) that has already resulted in early detection of various heart problems. This is also a feature that could save many lives.
