Android: Google attacks Apple and iOS14 due to its biggest news

Apple yesterday revealed iOS 14 to all users with a compatible iPhone. The news of this iOS 14 is not much when it comes to the design of the User Interface. Instead, the biggest news was the addition of widgets on the smarpthone screen.

So far, the iPhone widgets were on the side of the User Interface. The new iOS 14 gives all users the ability to place widgets wherever they want on their screen.

Google attacks Apple and iOS 14

In the most recent Twitter post of “madebyGoogle”, the company's official account, Google published an image of its main screen with a calendar widget that we can read: “Realize that we have widgets forever”, “tell the world” . A stab at the new iOS 14 that only in 2020 finally brought that functionality to its users.

How to add a widget on iOS 14

Apple iOS 14 widgets

To add a Widget on your iPhone screen, you need to have iOS 14 installed. Soon afterwards (long press) an icon until they start to “shake”.

At the top right of the screen you will find a “+” button. Click and choose the widget you want to have on the screen. Then you just need to drag it to the main screen.

Android continues with more options

I've been a huge fan of widgets for a long time. IOS 14 has already introduced them, however, they are nowhere near as versatile as those on Android. At least for now.

For example, we don't have a Gmail widget to show us what's going on in the inbox without having to open it. Even Google News can only be placed in the corner of the iPhone User Interface.

We can admit that Android continues to do a better job when it comes to application widgets. Let's just hope that Apple opens the door to developers in order to create new features for this new feature.
