A new chapter in the era of Apple computers opened with the launch of the M1 processor. Unveiled with the new 13-inch MacBook Air and Pro and the new Mac Mini, this SoC is widely praised for its performance and autonomy.
This being an “entry” processor, curiosity is now focused on the new 16-inch MacBook Pro. Judging by the preliminary information shared by @LeaksApplePro, this new notebook will embarrass peers with an Intel processor.
M1X processor, with 12 cores, will arrive with the 16 “MacBook Pro
According to its sources, this leaker claims to have knowledge of the next ARM processor designed by Apple. The new SoC is referred to as M1X, however, its designation is not yet closed.
What really impresses, in what has been revealed, is the composition of this new SoC. Apparently, the M1X will have a total of 12 cores, with eight high-performance and four more efficient.
If this is true, Apple is preparing to double the number of cores responsible for the most demanding tasks. It is worth remembering that the M1 has only four high-performance cores, out of a total of eight that make up the processor.
Since the M1 already delivers outstanding performance, the likely M1X is expected to raise the bar even further. Incidentally, someone who has already tried a prototype of this equipment says that the new processor will be far superior to the M1.
When will the new 16 “MacBook Pro arrive
The source is limited to revealing that Apple’s new top MacBook will be presented in 2021. Its announcement will be made through a press release, without the pomp and circumstance of the trio presented on November 10.
However, we do not have any timeline to clarify when this long-awaited announcement will take place. Certainly more details will come up in the near future.
